We all see what is happening to the COVID numbers. We cannot pretend that life is returning to normal or pretend that, even though we are entering a New Year, we are leaving the pandemic behind. For us, one of the hardest aspects of the pandemic times is figuring out what is the right thing to do. What can Scuppernong Books do to help keep our community safe and remain a viable business?
The honest answer, I fear, is that we can't do both with absolute certainty of safety. But we do know that wearing masks 100% of the time goes a long way to minimizing the risk for both customers and staff. We are adamant about the use of masks in our store and have been since we reopened in June.
We'll be closing the store to walk-in traffic again on January 1, but remain open for appointments. This will allow us to further control the number of people in the store. You can make an appointment here or, if you are in the neighborhood and would like to come by, call us for an Instant Appointment at 336-763-1919. We'll remain Appointment Only for the foreseeable future, but we will re-assess the progress of the pandemic regularly. We provide curbside pickup for those that choose it and are happy to ship your books to wherever you need them. We've even offered the occasional delivery.
Thank you all for your fervent support of Scuppernong Books throughout 2020. We have been overwhelmed by your generosity and kindness. As a community we'll all need to keep assessing our safety and act with the health care workers and the vulnerable in mind. This is no time to get impatient with the pandemic.
