Fixtures: A Collection of Dance Works
Friday, October 12, 7p and 8pm
Fixtures is a collection of dance works that revolve around pressure: the mental pressure to make the right the decision, the physical pressure of life’s demands, and the emotional pressure to feel and act “normal”.
(Cost of) Comfort pulls from commonalities in stories of unhappiness and hesitation when on the cusp of making a radical change. Within each life decision, individuals sacrifice either their comfort or an opportunity. Comfort looks at attempts to control our own circuitry during these decisions and efforts to understand one another.
Angle of repose is the maximum angle at which an object can rest on an inclined plane without sliding. The work Angle of Repose takes a humorous look at our attempt to juggle ALL THE THINGS in order to be a superhero—at least, what we think a superhero should look like.
Honey is a solo of measured, sustained movement. Weighted physicality exaggerates the choreographer’s experience of melting, sticky moments when her body slows down as her thoughts take over.
