Making Our Way to Lumpkin

(Scroll Down for Log-In Information)

in collaboration with Faith Action International House

Making Our Way to Lumpkin gathers together reflections of community members who traveled from Greensboro, NC to Lumpkin, GA, to visit those detained at Stewart Detention Center. There, in pairs, they visited for an hour with a person detained, seeking to let detained members of their community know that they had not been forgotten, and to witness to the injustices inflicted upon them.

As the written words of these visitors attest, coming face to face with the humanity of those being treated so inhumanely was in equal parts unmooring and motivating. All who made the journey returned determined to advocate even more passionately for immigration policies that are just and grounded in the recognition of the humanity, dignity, and moral worth of all those who take the extraordinary step of fleeing their home in search of a better life for themselves and their family.
