Step 1) Name the oppressors in your life: whether these are persons, systems, social or behavioral norms that restrict your life, its quality, its scope of possibility.

Step 2) Write a poem about your oppressor(s). Don't worry about its being "good" or "entertaining" by any commercial or academic standards.

What's important is that it's raw, honest, written like an incantation against the "powers that be" in your life;

powers (whoever, whatever, wherever they are) that have restricted you, that have exploited you, your world, your capacities to dream, experience, or express.

Step 3) Share your work in the circle at the open mic.
