Poets Barasovska, Absher, & McLean

J.S. Absher’s fourth book of poetry, Skating Rough Ground (Kelsay Press) was
published in 2022. His work has won awards from BYU Studies Quarterly and
Dialogue and has been nominated for four Pushcarts. His work has appeared in Tar
River Review, the NC Literary Review, McNeese Review, among others.

Joan Barasovska lives in Orange County, North Carolina. She is the author of Birthing Age
(Finishing Line Press, 2018), Carrying Clare (Main Street Rag, 2022), and Orange Tulips
(Redhawk Publications, 2022). Joan serves on the Board of the North Carolina Poetry Society
and hosts a poetry series at McIntyre’s Books in Pittsboro, NC.


Joanie McLean is an ecologist and poet living in Silk Hope, North Carolina. She is the
winner of the New Millennium Writings Prize for Poetry and a three-time finalist for the
James Applewhite Prize. She has published four poetry collections; the most recent,
Like Wind Into Air, received honorable mention for the Lena Shull Book Award.
