This Land is Your Land 2021

For the Inauguration of 2017, Scuppernong Books staged a Hootenany de la Resistance, with many activities.

The centerpiece of the day was an ongoing performance of Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land

by an eclectic, rotating group of Greensboro musicians,

You can see a compilation video of the performance here.

Sadly, we won't be able to get together as a community for the 2021 Inauguration,

so we've decided to film and record a 2021 version of Woody's song,

It's said that Leonard Cohen wrote over 125 verses for his song, Hallelujuah,

and while we might not have that many by the end of the project,

we'll record the verses we have.

So, we ask you, citizens of Scuppernong:

write a new, possibly topical, verse for this foundational American song.

It can be celebratory, angry, incantatory, optimistic, sad;

it can be any mix of emotions and thoughts you like,

but your verse must end with Woody's

"This land was made for you and me."

Send your verse to: scuppernongbooks@gmail.com.

The deadline is January 10.

We'll have the recording and video ready by Inauguration Day.
